[파이낸셜뉴스] 가상자산 시장이 개인 투자자 중심의 리테일 거래에서 금융기관·빅테크가 참여하는 제도권 인프라 경쟁으로 옮겨가고 있다. 특히 최근 토큰증권(STO), 스테이블코인, 커스터디(수탁)를 둘러싼 합종연횡이 본격화하고 있다는 분석이 나왔다.

아시아 웹3 전문 리서치 및 자문사인 타이거리서치 김규진 대표(사진)는 1일 "현재 한국 가상자산 시장은 단순한 시장 선점을 넘어 향후 확정될 규제 기준에 영향력을 행사하려는 이른바 '규제 설계전'의 양상을 띠고 있다"고 밝혔다.

타이거리서치가 최근 국내 150개 기관과 196건의 협력 관계를 추적한 결과, 국내 시장 경쟁구도는 STO, 스테이블코인, 수탁 등 3대 전선을 중심으로 전개되고 있다. 특히 금융권과 가상자산 거래소 간 결합이 두드러진다. 하나은행이 두나무 지분 6.55% 인수 방침을 밝힌 데 이어 한화투자증권이 3.90%, 삼성증권·삼성SDS·삼성카드 등 삼성 계열 3사가 합산 4.0% 취득을 공표했다. 미래에셋컨설팅 역시 코빗 지분 92.06% 인수 계약을 체결했다. 타이거리서치는 이 같은 거래소 지분 경쟁을 스테이블코인·수탁·STO·실물연계자산(RWA)이 유통되는 핵심 고객 접점을 선점하려는 움직임으로 해석했다.

김 대표는 특히 최근 네이버, 두나무, 하나은행 등의 대기업 연합 구도에 대해 "글로벌 시장에서 경쟁하기 위해 필요한 자본과 규모의 체력을 기르는 긍정적 신호이자 대전략의 전환"이라고 평가했다.

국내외 시장 격차가 과도하게 벌어졌다는 시각에 대해서는 신중한 입장을 보였다. 김 대표는 "미국 역시 스테이블코인 이자 지급 여부나 법안 디테일을 두고 진통을 겪고 있다"며 "국내외 격차가 열탕과 냉탕이 아닌 온탕과 냉탕 수준인 만큼 한국 시장에도 충분한 기회가 열려 있다"고 강조했다.
